What is the difference between a chatbot and an AI agent?
A chatbot is a conversational interface that answers questions in text or voice. It responds, but usually cannot act. An AI agent can hold the same conversation and then do the work, such as booking, updating a record or issuing a refund, within the permissions and approvals you set.
Example
A chatbot explains the returns policy; an agent checks the order, creates the return label and asks a person to approve the refund.
In one line
A conversational interface. A chatbot answers; an agent can also act in your systems.
