What is an approval gate?

An approval gate is a point in an automated workflow where the agent stops and asks a named person to approve an action before it happens. Gates sit in front of anything risky, costly or hard to undo, such as payments, refunds, customer emails or record changes, so autonomy grows only where it has been earned.

Example

An agent can draft any number of quotes, but a quote above an agreed value waits for the sales lead to approve it before it is sent.

In one line

A point where an agent pauses and asks a named human to approve an action before it happens. Used for anything risky, costly or irreversible.
