What is an audit trail in AI automation?

An audit trail is the record of everything an agent did: the trigger, what it read, the tools it called, the action it took, who approved it and the result. It lets a team review any decision afterwards, show a customer or auditor what happened, and roll back changes where the underlying system allows it.

Example

When a customer disputes a reply, the team opens the run log and sees the order data the agent used and the person who approved the message.

In one line

A record of every action an agent took, what it read, who approved it and what changed, kept so the work can be reviewed or rolled back.
